Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, has a long chronicled foundation. IGKV was built upon 20th January 1987 in the wake of bifurcating from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. In the English system, one Agrarian Exploration Station was built up in 1903 known as "Labhandi Homestead" at Raipur.
